President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has inaugurated Africa’s first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fired power plant

The Bridge Power Project located at Kpone near Tema in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana is a 424 megawatt multi-fuel combined cycle power plant approximately 27km east of Ghana’s capital city of Accra. The plant was built in two phases. The first stage has a capacity of 202 megawatts, while the second has 222 megawatts.

The fuel-flexible power plant will be capable of running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas, or diesel ( it is also the world’s largest plant of its kind). The project is estimated to cost around $1.2 billion.

During the commissioning, the President said the project which started in 2017 is a sign of Ghana’s Energy security and the vision of the Government to promote growth and Sustainable development in the Country.

The plant will deliver electricity to support operations at schools, factories, offices, other local businesses, hospitals, and households.
