Mfantsipim Senior High School has been crowned Champions of the 2024 National Science and Math Quiz after beating St. Augustine College and Keta Senior High and Technical School in the final of the competition.
In the first round of the Final Competition held at the University of Cape Coast, Mfantsipim School and St. Augustines College each recorded 24 points as Keta Senior High was left out of the race with just 12 points.
St. Augustines College triumphed in the second round as they recorded 34 points against Mfantsipim’s 30 points and Keta’s 13 points.
The third Round which is known as the Problem of the Day where all competing schools were given a question to find solutions to within a stipulated time. In this Round St., Augustines College emerged victorious after being awarded 5/10 marks while Keta SHS and Mfantsipim followed with 4/10 and 3/10 marks respectively.
The Fourth Round also involved questions which demanded True/ False answers and in this Round, Keta SHS were completely taken out of the race as their 26 points could not match that of Mfantsipim’s 44 nor Augusco’s 46 points at the end of the round.
The contest was decided in the 5th and final round when Mfantsipim College answered as many riddles correctly. Keta’s correct Answer “water” to the last riddle handed them the trophy for the first time in 10 years after winning it in 1994 and 2014.
