Moroccan Club Raja Casablanca held Ghanaian side FC Samartex to a 2-2 draw in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mohammed Zrida scored the first goal for Raja Casablanca in the 19th minute after he headed home the opener to give the visiting team a 1-0 lead. After the goal Samartex forward Micheal Ephson scored in the 37th and 44th minutes to restore parity and give the lead to FC Samartex.
Raja Casablanca scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute to make the scoreline 2-2 minutes after the first-half break. After the game head Coach of the visiting team attributed the performance of the team to the bad state of the Accra Sports Stadium.
“It is not possible to play on this pitch that we played on” Josef Zinnbauer complained after the game.
The second leg of the CAF Champions League game between Raja Casablanca and Samartex is scheduled for September 21 at the Stade Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco.
