President Akuffo Addo sets up committee to help curb Galamsey

Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana has set up a five-member committee to help curb the issue of illegal Mining.

The illegal Search for Gold beneath the earth popularly known as Galamsey by some Ghanaian nationals and foreign individuals has led to the massive destruction of forests and Waterbodies in the Country.

There have been recent complaints about the unhealthy nature of Waterbodies in Ghana due to illegal mining. Due to this, the President has set up an ad hoc committee to engage stakeholders on solutions to excessive illegal mining in the country.

Among the selected members of the committee are Leader Honorable Ken Albert Dapaah(National Security Leader), Honurabe Abu Jinapor(Minister for Lands and Natural Resources), Honorable Dominic Nitiwul(Minister for Defense), Honorable Ignatius Baffour Awuah(Minister for Employment, Labour and Pensions) and Honorable Fatimatu Abubakar(Minister for Information).

The presidential committee is expected to look into the causes of excessive illegal mining in the country and find various strategies for solving the issues.
