After finishing 6th position in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League Season, Kumasi Asante Kotoko began the 2024/25 Season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Karela United in the Matchday 1 encounter at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex.
Newly signed Player Albert Amoah scored the only goal of the game for the Porcupine Warriors in the 36th minute to hand the Kumasi-based side all three points away from home.
The former Accra Great Olympics Player put up an impressive performance in his debut League game for Asante Kotoko as his shot from in the 18th-yard box hit the post and went straight into the net.
The win means Kumasi Asante Kotoko has now won a game after failing to beat Karela United in their previous three meetings. Kotoko Goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was named the Most Valuable Player of the Match after putting up a fantastic display to deny the home side a goal.
Asante Kotoko will face last Season’s MTN FA Cup Champions Nsoatreman FC in the Matchday 2 Ghana Premier League game at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.
