Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders’ “reset” mantra, warning that it would effectively reverse Ghana’s progress and hinder its development momentum. According to Dr. Prempeh, embracing the NDC’s “reset” agenda would be a step backward, undermining the country’s hard-won achievements and stalling its forward march.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s running mate, has vehemently criticized the NDC’s “reset” agenda, warning that it would lead to the cancellation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy and a return to the dark days of “Dumsor”. He emphasized that the NDC’s 2024 manifesto offers no hope and instead poses a significant threat to Ghana’s progress.
Dr. Prempeh recounted the devastating impact of the NDC’s mismanagement under ex-President Mahama, which led to four consecutive years of power outages, causing businesses to collapse. He cautioned the electorate that voting for John Mahama and the NDC would inevitably bring back “Dumsor”, a prospect that Ghanaians fear.
He highlighted the NPP’s achievements in addressing the power crisis since assuming office in 2017 and warned that the NDC would scrap the free SHS program, which has benefited numerous Ghanaian youth. Dr. Prempeh credited President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia’s government with saving the country from the prolonged power crisis.
Addressing a large crowd at Toase in the Atwima Nwabiagya Constituency, Dr. Prempeh urged citizens to vote for Dr. Bawumia to preserve the free SHS policy and prevent another “Dumsor” era. He expressed confidence that the NPP would “break the 8” and continue its progress.
