President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has launched the dualization of the 22km Adentan to Dodowa road project, a vital inter-regional road connecting Ghana’s capital to the Eastern and Volta regions.
This project is part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the country’s main trunk roads, reduce travel times, lower vehicle operating costs, and improve road safety.
The project, undertaken by Messrs Oswald Investments Limited, an indigenous Ghanaian company, will include the provision of service lanes, adequate drainage structures, walkways, and lay-bys along urbanized sections. The Ministry of Roads and Highways will manage the project, with the Ghana Highway Authority serving as the engineer.
At the sod-cutting ceremony, President Akufo-Addo highlighted his government’s impressive strides in road network development nationwide, with 12,830 kilometers of road completed. Notable projects include the iconic 4-tier Pokuase Interchange, the Tema Motorway Interchange Phase One, and the dualization of Aviation Road.
Ongoing projects in the Greater Accra Region include the dualization of the Achimota-Ofankor road, the construction of the 30km Dome-Kitasi road, and the construction of the 64km Tema Akosombo road. The President also announced the resumption of work on the Tema-Aflao road and the dualization of the Coastal road.
President Akufo-Addo urged the contractor to implement necessary traffic management measures to minimize inconveniences during the construction period.
